Introducing VDL USA by Avon

Avon VDL Lumilayer Primer – Have you heard of it yet? It’s has a cult-following overseas for being the MUST-HAVE product to create glass skin. But does it live up to the hype? And what is glass skin anyway?

We’re about to dive in to this and more. Find out what VDL lumilayer primer is, what it claims to do and why it has such a following. I’ll tell you all about my first impressions with the product and what it did for me…..and what it did NOT do.

What is VDL Lumilayer Primer and What Makes it So much different?

VDL is a well-respected K-Beauty brand that is known to be the MUST-HAVE product for achieving glass skin. The products are infused with VDL Lumilayer technology.

This exclusive technology creates bright shades of colors by layering different shades of light.

VDL Mission

That’s right – VDL technology is so advanced that they have found a way to capture different shades of light for you to add to your skin! Other primers on the market are formulated with artificial colors, where as VDL Lumilayer technology captures actual light pigments.

Can you imagine being able to apply pigments of light onto your skin? Think about how much clearer and purer that truly is!

VDL was able to identify two major shades of light to formulate its products.

The Light Shades Included in VDL Primers

VDL was able to identify and capture two shades of light and included them in the technology for their primers. Both shades assist in helping achieve a healthy and youthful glow.

Blue Light Pigment

The blue light pigment is found in baby’s skin and sets off a clear translucent look.

It makes sense doesn’t it?

If you think about it, isn’t blue found in most clear shades? Doesn’t water emit a blue pigment? Think of the waters in the Caribbean.

It’s blue right?

Same with glass?

It’s clear. It’s pure.

Red Light Pigment

The red light pigment in a bright and healthy complexion. When your skin is dull, it’s emitting less of the red pigment. Instead, dull skin emits a yellow pigment, which causes it to lose it’s healthy bright look.

When VDL combined the blue and red pigments together, they found that those two pigments created the most healthy youthful glow.

The Difference Between Mixing Light and Artificial Colors

Think about when you were a kid and mixed paint colors together. Was the shade you mixed always a flattering color? It might have been ok when you mixed two of the right colors together, right?

But as you continued to add more colors to the mixture? What happened to the paint? Didn’t it eventually become dark and muddy? It may have even had a grey tone.

Now let’s talk about mixing light pigments.

When you mix light pigments together, it doesn’t become darker, or muddy. It actually becomes brighter!!

Since VDL absorbs and reflects light, your skin will glow with vitality, even when you layer the pigment!

VDL Lumilayer Primer Review – My Thoughts

I love the pearlescent glow left behind when I use the VDL Lumilayer Primer. The prismatic effect of the product draws the light to all of the places I want to accentuate and hides the dark spots on my face and under my eyes.

It does not have moisture or oil control properties because it is made to enhance that dewey, glass skin glow. I love how I feel so naturally radiant when I am using it alongside my Avon X The Face Shop Cushion Foundation.

I especially love that it is lightweight and doesn’t feel greasy on my skin. And I truly can’t get enough of the glow from within look created by the soft violet sheen.

It provided a smooth base that masked flaws and imperfections and helped my makeup last a lot longer.

I also noticed that it gave my skin a volumizing effect. As I get older, I’ve noticed my skin not feeling as full or plump and I love the way that this helped give my face a 3D look!
