Sometimes Selling Avon on Social Media Doesn’t Make me Happy

For someone with a large social media presence, this may surprise you! There are days I wish I didn’t have to sell Avon on Social Media.

This summer, I found out that my social media presence was becoming more of a job for me. And it felt stressful and like I was taking time away from my kids.

So I stopped trying to sell Avon Online on Social Media for the summer.

I didn’t post a single thing about my business on Facebook or Instagram.

I didn’t take the time to make videos.

Instead I lived life. I enjoyed the summer with my kiddos.

Why it Became Stressful to Sell Avon Online Using Social Media

Selling Avon on Social Media can become such a rat race! It is exhausting to me to come up with content every day, post it and come up with captions.


So today, I’m going to tell you what I did INSTEAD of Selling Avon online on social media all summer and how you can set yourself up to do this too by next Summer!

What Happened when I stopped Selling Avon Online Using Social Media

So here’s some stats for you about what happened with my business this summer when I stopped trying to Sell Avon online on social media.


My business brought in almost $90,000. My personal sales were close to $5000 during that time. My sales team grew by 140 people

.
There are so many who have a ton of success Selling Avon on Social media.

And I believe it should be ONE of the components of your business. But it shouldn’t be the ONLY way you sell Avon online.

Why Selling Avon Online with Social Media isn’t always my First Goal

Here’s why I don’t value Selling Avon Online on Social Media as much as I do other platforms.

  1. You don’t own your contacts or your content – There are so many people posting right now that their Facebook business page was cancelled or closed for whatever reason. This was their sole means of advertising their business and then they are lost.
  2. You are at the mercy of the platforms algorithms – Listen I don’t feel like spending all day long analyzing the new algorithm update a day after I just figured out the last one. Besides, why am I giving all of my traffic to someone else’s platform when I could be USING that platform to drive the traffic to myself.
  3. You spend hours making content that has at best a 24 hour shelf life. It appears once in people’s feed if you’re lucky. If they don’t buy right from that post, they aren’t coming back to buy

Here’s What to Do Instead of Spending All Your Time Trying to Sell Avon Online with Social Media

Ok, truth time.

If you want this business to work, you DO have to do some work.

If you don’t want to spend all day trying to sell Avon online with social media, that’s totally fine.

Here’s what I did during my three month break from social media:

Collect Contact Info

Just because I didn’t post on social media for three months, doesn’t mean I wasn’t working. This business doesn’t work if you don’t. But my major focus wasn’t on posting on social media – it was about collecting contact information and expanding my network.

Every person you come in contact with could be a potential customer in the future. When I say I collect contact info – I don’t ask people for their phone number and spam them my link.
I make new friends….and if it’s right or if it comes up in conversation, I might make a recommendation about something they would like.

CONTACT INFO is always king and should always be your main priority over posting.


If you’re going to post, make sure your post is geared toward collecting contact information.

With Avon, that contact info can help you automate your business because when you enter it into your address book, Avon will market to the people on your behalf!
Also, when a customer’ email address appears in your address book, it automatically attaches them to you.

That means, when they go to shop on avon.com and login, you will appear as their rep!
I recommend building a blog so that you OWN the platform.

Don’t worry!

It’s not as hard as it seems and the #1 thing you need to do is WRITE. Too many people get worried about coding and looks. But looks and coding don’t make you money.

Your CONTENT does.

So open a self hosted blog NOW and it’s possible you could rank by next summer.

A blog is different than social media because if you operate on a self hosted blog, YOU own the platform and If you use your blog to collect contact information, you have an alternative way to send your message without posting on social media.


I also have had great success off of social media with my own email program – I use send fox and text program – project broadcast.
