At the time that I am writing this post, I am closing in on my two year anniversary as a beauty influencer. I’d like to show you how I have grown my beauty brand into a six-figure business in less than two years.

It’s a super exciting accomplishment for me, and I have learned a lot of lessons along the way. I’ve made mistakes and I’ve had successes. I hope you will take this time to celebrate those successes with me and learn from the mistakes I made.

I decided I was going to become a beauty influencer in 2018. To be honest, it was an opportunity that kind of just fell into my lap. It wasn’t necessarily something I had planned to do.

I work full time as a marketing consultant for my family’s four store grocery store chain. I develop and manage our company’s online marketing and consult with local media outlets to budget and determine an appropriate advertising structure.

When I wasn’t working as marketing consultant for my family’s company, I was planning our family’s next vacation destination. More than likely, I was dreaming of Disney World because I’m a huge Disney Fanatic. I call Cinderella castle my home.

Taking a family of five to Disney costs money. And I wanted to be able to do it as often as we could while the kids were still young and we could make those memories with them. So I was looking for ways to make money online and I found my opportunity to become a beauty influencer.

While, I have chosen to align myself with one company to build my business, the principles I discuss can be related to anyone wanting to break into the beauty niche.

The reason I was able to progress within my company quickly was due to strategic marketing and hard work.

Growing to a Top Beauty Influencer

From the start of my business, I had a vision of how much money I wanted to make.

That was half of the battle.

The other half was what knowing what it was going to take to get there. I set goals and tried my hardest to be consistent.

For me, that consistency paid off ten-fold.

In two years I have been able to build a $200,000 business that is pacing to grow again this year. Results won’t be the same for everyone, it’s true. But you can get great results by placing a strong focus on building a personal brand and adopting online marketing techniques.

I’d love to share with you some of the biggest lessons I learned in my first two years as a beauty influencer.

How to Become a Successful Beauty Influencer

I’m not saying I’m perfect in any way. I’ve made TONS of mistakes and continually strive to grow each day.

I’m blessed to have an amazing support system that cheers me on from the sidelines. But here are some proven strategies I used to fast track my journey to becoming a Top Beauty Influencer.

Determine How much money you want to make as a Beauty Influencer

In order to get where you want to go, you have to know where you are going.

It seems like such a simple concept. But many people decide they are going to become a beauty influencer, but they don’t have a real strategy of what they are even expecting to get out of becoming one.

If you are looking to become a beauty influencer to monetize your platform, you have to be strategic about your goals.

Be specific about how much money you are hoping to make and be realistic about the amount of time it will take to earn that amount of money.

Always have a growth mindset and always be learning.

Don’t Settle For Less Than You Deserve

Once you have the amount of money you want to earn written down on paper, you’ll have to start doing the math to determine how many sales you will have to accumulate to reach your goal.

There are several popular platforms for beauty influencers to earn from their beauty affiliate link, but many don’t pay over 5%. So you really have to be strategic about who you choose to work with and how much time (or money) you spend getting your business off the ground.

I promote my products and earn 40% from the sales earned through my affiliate link. Here are a list of some of the products I promote:

Some of these products could be promoted using the Amazon or Sephora affiliate program where I would earn just 5%. Instead I am promoting them on a 40% profit margin.

If you want to be a top beauty influencer, you want to be able to be easily found online. It’s important to develop a great online presence that draws people to you and lets them get to know you.

In order to have a strong online presence, it’s important to be creating content that engages your followers. There’s a saying, “People hate to be sold to, but they love to buy.”

It’s so true. So your content should help people connect with you. It should be informative or entertaining. It should make them laugh. It should be way more than just selling them products through your affiliate link.

Blogging for Top Beauty Influencers

While some people skip this step, I think it’s critical.

Starting a beauty blog can give you an extra advantage and really take your beauty business to the next level. When you start a blog, it expands your reach outside of other social platforms.

It’s so important to make connections when you’re building a beauty business on social media. You don’t want to just post pictures of beauty products and expect everyone to flock to your affiliate link.

You want to engage and create a community of like minded individuals. Engage about your passions and talk to others who have similar passions.

Make a point to educate, entertain and inform. Create conversations and develop relationships first. Reply to EVERY comment.

Always be looking at different income generating ideas that can correlate with your beauty niche. As you become an expert in promoting your product – other income generating opportunities can present themselves.

You might decide that you enjoy to train other people based on what you have learned about becoming a beauty influencer. You could create paid trainings and courses for people to purchase.

You could also become an affiliate for other products you use. You may decide to sign up for the Amazon Affiliates program and make recommendations about the types of equipment you use to create your content.
