When I first got started in network marketing, I used to be the girl who thought I would never earn that trip. I never considered myself a “salesperson” and I just didn’t feel right doing the things that other people were doing in the industry.

So I decided to come up with a different approach. And now, I am going to break down for you the 13 ways I learned to hit my network marketing goals and achieve success. Some of this focuses on selling products in person. And other parts are digital marketing 101.

  1. Show the products in use – They say that people need to see an advertisement SEVEN times before they will take action. Alot of network marketers take this statement to mean they need to post sale-sy ads seven times in a row until SOMEBODY…..ANYBODY buys. But that’s not the right way to look at it. While they may need to see something seven times….you can show them the same thing seven times in seven different ways. One of these ways can be to show your products in use. You can do this with an in-person open house, a one on one consultation, or a Facebook Live video. Whichever way you choose – SHOW your customers how YOU use the product.
  2. Tell Stories – Maybe you don’t have the cashflow yet to invest in ALL of the products. So, as a result, you simply can’t show them in use. That’s ok. You can tell stories about the product. One way to do this is to get stories from your customers, family, or friends. If you don’t know anyone who has used that particular product, ask someone in your network marketing company if you can use their story.
  3. Use Customer Reviews – Does your company sell products online? If they do, there are more than likely reviews out there on the products! Check the product page on your network marketing company’s website and grab some customer reviews. And then share what the products did for the customer.
  4. Always Collect Follow up information – When you talk about your company products or services to someone, are you collecting contact information? If not, you are missing probably the most valuable part of growing your business. You may feel uncomfortable asking someone for their contact info. But, what if they got something in return for providing their contact info. Maybe your company offers a discount for new customers or a sweepstakes they can enter to win. Use the tools already available through your company to help you collect contact information.
  5. Start a subscription box program – A subscription box program can help generate a steady flow of funds into your business. To begin a subscription box program, you can assess how much money you have in your products and determine the amount of money your customers will pay you each month.
  6. Start a fundraiser and give back to your community – You might decide to use your business as a way to give back to your community. And maybe other people may want to join you in your venture. You can collect money from people to help fund the cost of your products and then donate them to a local organization.   7. Do one on one consultations via messenger room – Facebook Messenger rooms have been a wonderful resource for me to provide one on one consults with my customers! I have provided consultations on skincare and makeup in a one-on-one setting. The best part is, the customer doesn’t have to be on Facebook to attend a Facebook Messenger Room Consultation.   8. Sign up for Vendor Events in your area (or online) but make the primary goal to collect contact information. Collecting contact information should be the primary objective in everything you do as a network marketer. This includes at vendor events as well! The best way to collect contact information at vendor events is to offer a giveaway where people can enter for the chance to win a product bundle. If your company offers a giveaway – you can use products from that giveaway for your display, and then enter them when they provide their info. You can make up entry forms to hand out.
  9. Promote on Social Media – This is a great way to promote your network marketing business! But it should never be the ONLY way you promote your network marketing business. Many network marketers get into the habit of posting a flyer of a product on social media and then don’t know why they aren’t getting results. While posting on social media can be good, it is best when you use it in conjunction with all the other tips included here.
  10. Make five new friends a day – In many companies, you will hear the five a day method taught. When I first started my network marketing business, I thought that meant that I had to pitch my product or opportunity to five people every day. It was so unnatural to me. So I adopted a new rule. Instead of actively prospecting five people every day, I was going to instead just work on making five new friends a day. Without expectation. That’s when the magic happened. Now instead of everyone feeling pressured to buy, I expanded my network. Then when people were interested in what I was doing, they came to ME – not the other way around. Not all of my new friends are customers and that is fine. Because now I have a bigger circle of friends!
  11. Start an online business – I started building my online business almost immediately after joining my network marketing company. And boy am I glad I did. While you likely won’t see results from building an online business immediately (you’ll be lucky if you see it within 6 months), if you can make it a long-term goal, think of the momentum you can gain after a year when your online business really takes off.   12. Look at your customers’ past purchase history – When you reach out to your customers, why not give them personalized service? Hard truth, folks. Your customers can buy whatever you’re selling anywhere. Many big box stores sell comparable products to what you sell. But can that big box store contact them one-on-one to tell them about a product they think they will love? Use your customers’ past purchase history to look at what products they have purchased in the past. Think of products that they could add to their life that would compliment those products. Tell them when their favorite is on sale so they can stock up. Keep track of when they buy and remind them BEFORE they run out. This is what gives you an edge over the big-box store competition.
  13. Break Down Your Goal and determine what products will sell best to help you meet that goal. When you get a goal and it feels huge, break it down into smaller numbers. A yearly goal of $23,000 may seem out of reach. But when you break that down to $920 every two weeks, or $65 a day, it feels more manageable. Once you know what you need, choose products from your company’s portfolio to help you reach that goal. Then set a challenge for yourself to sell a certain number of that product until you reach your goal.

Finally, develop a daily action plan that will help you meet them. Pencil your work day into your calendar and make that time a non-negotiable.
